Scholarship Sponsor

The Hmong community places a strong emphasis on education as a pathway to empowerment and opportunity. Families often encourage their children to pursue higher education, seeing academic achievement as a way to honor their heritage while creating a brighter future. Scholarships, mentorship, and culturally responsive programs play an important role in helping students navigate the challenges of school and college. By removing financial barriers, scholarships not only transform individual lives but also strengthen entire communities, unlocking talent and generating long‑term social and economic benefits.

To achieve the stated purpose, United Hmong Southwest Minnesota is seeking donations from individuals, groups, and organizations to ensure the following objectives are met.

• Award 10 scholarships to 10 students attending college in the fall of 2026.
• Need $3,000 in scholarship funds ($300 per scholarship).
• Award scholarship to students from Southwest Minnesota, who will be attending a two-year or four-year college/university, or graduate school.

The 10 scholarships will be presented to the students at the Summer Picnic and Graduation Recognition, June 27, 2026. The scholarship committee will review applications, and awards will be made in accordance with the established criteria.
